Srinagar police recover demonetised money worth Rs 25 lakh in 2 raids

Following a tip-off, the police first raided the house of a Mohammad Iqbal Dar, a resident of Bogund Kulgam. The police found demonetised currency worth Rs 3 lakh at his house.

Rajbagh police in Srinagar on Tuesday recovered demonetised currency notes worth Rs 25 lakh in two raids.

Following a tip-off, the police first raided the house of a Mohammad Iqbal Dar, a resident of Bogund Kulgam. The police found demonetised currency worth Rs 3 lakh at his house.

On further investigation, police learnt that Mohammad Iqbal Dar had dumped more money in a hideout in Jawahar Nagar area of Srinagar.

Subsequently, Rajbagh police raided the house of Ghulam Ahmad at Jawahar Nagar and recovered demonetised currency worth Rs 22 lakh.

A Special Investigation Team, under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer, has been constituted to further investigate the case.
