When Karan Johar began his career in Bollywood in 1998, he was just a director. But over the years, he has become a multi-faceted personality. From producing films to hosting chat shows to making acting cameos, Karan has tried almost everything in the last two decades. But the 47-year-old filmmaker-turned-producer is not ready to slow down any soon. As he recently announced his collaboration with OTT platform Netflix.
Karan Johar’s newly formed digital content studio Dharmatic Entertainment has struck a deal with Netflix India.
Sharing the big news, Karan Johar tweeted, “@NetflixIndia is about to get @Dharmatic_! So excited about our exclusive collaboration with NETFLIX! Along with the tweet, he shared a 38-second video saying, “So, we all have been raised by stories. Stories that have turned our lives upside down. Stories that have given us characters that are truly evergreen. I mean, who can forget Poo, right? And even villains we just can’t help rooting for. And some stories give us the feels. It is stories like these that truly inspire the storyteller in me. And now, Dharmatic and I are teaming up with Netflix to keep these stories coming. It is going to be P.H.A.T. Pretty, Hot and Tempting. So, get ready.”
Earlier, Karan Johar worked with Netflix for Lust Stories, and now he is entering into a partnership with the OTT platform.
“I’m super excited about the projects we already have in development and the limitless possibilities ahead. To create universal stories from India that the world discovers is an incredible and unprecedented opportunity,” Karan Johar said in a statement.
“We’re excited about the immense storytelling possibilities ahead. With Netflix as the new storytelling home for Dharmatic Entertainment, I have the highest hopes for what we can do together,” said Apoorva Mehta, CEO, Dharma Productions.
“Our vision is to create differentiated stories across diverse genres and we can’t wait to craft and usher many more remarkable series and films into the world with Netflix,” he added.
Karan Johar is excited about his new collaboration, and it would be interesting to see some new content making its way to Netflix India.
