Fire rips through Travelodge Brentford sparking evacuation of guests

Around 100 firefighters were battling a blaze at a five-storey hotel in west London in the early hours of Wednesday.

Around 160 people were evacuated from the building and there were no injures, according to the London Fire Brigade.

Fifteen fire engines were attending the incident in High Street, Brentford, which started in a bin room adjacent to the Travelodge.

Station commander Nathan Hobson said: ‘When firefighters arrived they were faced with a rapidly developing fire.

‘Firefighters carried out a systematic search of the hotel and fought the fire internally, which helped stop the fire spreading further.’

The brigade was called to the fire at 2.52am and has been supported by staff from surrounding fire stations.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
