David Seaman is convinced Arsenal players will be hoping for the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino as the club continues its search for a new manager.

Unai Emery was dismissed and Freddie Ljungberg has taken temporary charge, but the former Arsenal winger only picked up a point in his first game as caretaker manager in a 2-2 draw against Norwich.

Behind the scenes, club chiefs are assessing their options but Tottenham Hotspur’s recent managerial activity could prove influential to their thinking.

Pochettino was a big hit at Arsenal’s north London rivals Spurs before being relieved of his duties, with former Manchester United and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho taking the reins.

Although he has previously said he would never manage the Gunners nor Barcelona – the local rivals of former club Espanyol – he has admitted he’s open to offers and the fact he was sacked by Tottenham chiefs could open the door to a suprising move to the Emirates.

Seaman would like to see former team-mate Patrick Vieira given an opportunity to shine, but he believes the players will be desperate for Pochettino to ditch his alleigances to Spurs and join Arsenal.

‘Yeah I’ve seen a lot of the people that have been mentioned and I was hoping someone like Patrick Vieira might get a chance of being in there,’ he told TalkSport.

‘But it doesn’t look like that would happen.

‘But the name that I keep going back to now is Poch!

‘If you asked the players if they would take him now and I bet you a good 90% of them would say yes.’
