The message appeared during a feature about body positivity on BBC London News on Monday, during which Jada Sezer’s Instagram page was shown – along with the aforementioned uncensored comment.
To make matters worse, it wasn’t even the late news, it was about 6.50pm.
Ashleigh Moss was one of the many who spotted the blunder while watching the news with her six-year-old granddaughter. The 55-year-old thinks somebody ‘has got to pay’ for the error – which sounds a bit sinister if you ask me.
Speaking to The Sun, she said: “I’m no prude, but I’m absolutely appalled by their standards.
“The show was dealing with online bullying after discussing Jesy Nelson from Little Mix. It was quite an uplifting piece, it was quite positive.
“Then they showed a plus sized model’s Instagram. When I saw that comment I could not believe it – I was gobsmacked. I thought they’d say sorry at the end of it, but there was nothing.
“Somebody has got to pay for that surely, I would say that was bad at 10 O’clock, let alone quarter to seven in the evening.”
Ms Moss was far from the only person to be stunned by the cock up, with many more expressing their shock on social media.
One person said: “Since when has it been acceptable to show such disgusting language in the news?”
Another said: “I don’t know how you let this slip through. That first comment might raise a few eyebrows!”
A third added: “I noticed it – couldn’t quite believe what I was seeing! And that following an item on the main news about social media and bullying/body shaming, etc.”
A BBC spokesman said: “The mistake was spotted immediately and the image was taken down.”
Appearing on Good Morning Britain (also in bra and knickers) before the race, Gordon explained the motivation for taking on the run wearing only undies.
She said: “If one woman sees us out wobbling around on the London Marathon course having a great time, hopefully, and thinks, you don’t have to wake up and run a marathon but if they get out and run a mile.
“It’s really empowering to learn what you can do with your own body.”
