AFLW draft 2019: Time, venue, draft order, Mo Hope nominates

Moana Hope has nominated for today’s AFL Women’s draft as she eyes her football resurrection.

The 31-year-old was delisted by North Melbourne at the end of the 2019 AFLW season after spending the first two seasons of the burgeoning competition at Collingwood.

The forward was a marquee player for the Magpies in the inaugural season in 2017.

She has admitted that being cut by the Roos at the close of AFLW03 was “a shock” but she is hopeful that being picked up in Tuesday’s national draft can reinvigorate her love for the game.

“I actually haven’t thought about footy for a couple of months, which has been so nice for me. So refreshing,” Hope said on ABC.

“For me, I’m in the draft which is coming up. I’ve nominated for the draft.

“I just want to play footy and I want footy to be fun. I want it — especially AFLW — to keep growing so little girls can eventually one day play that full-time.

“I also want to play footy and enjoy it.”

Hope, who married now-wife Isabella Carlstrom in August, said she believed she had “had a tough ride” in AFLW and hoped the draft could bring a new chance.
